With reference to my letter of the 10th instant,

I am directed by the Marquess of Salisbury to trans-

mit to you a copy of a telegram from the Tsungli

Yamen, communicated by the Chinese Minister on the

11th instant, relative to the proposed removal of

the Chinese Customs Station at Kowloon.

I am to request that Her Majesty's Secretary of

State for the Colonies will favour Lord Salisbury

with his views as to the reply which should be re-

turned to the Chinese Government.
